The Burmese Rohingya Community of Georgia is a non-profit organization based in Atlanta, GA that aims to provide support and care for refugee families in the community through social services, educational support, community development and outreach programs.
CDF is a non-profit organization that works to engage and connect community members in Clarkston, GA in transforming education through culturally sound and community-driven education initiatives that benefit the community. Its mission is to ensure all children and youth in the community are nurtured, supported, and prepared to learn in a way that is best for their development and growth.
The City of Clarkston is located in Dekalb County, GA. The mayor and city council focus on the community’s needs and policies that will address those needs. They are committed to improving the health and well-being of residents by supporting and investing in economic, educational, social initiatives for the Clarkston community.
The Clarkston Community Center is a non-profit organization that serves the Clarkston community through education, recreation, and the arts. It provides social support and community development programs that help foster safety, well-being, and inclusivity in the Clarkston community.
The DeKalb County Board of Health is committed to protecting the health of those who live, work, and play in DeKalb County. The Board of Health aspires to meet the health needs of those it serves by addressing the determinants of health and assuring the conditions in which the health needs can be met.
Emory School of Medicine is located in the city of Atlanta, GA. It challenges the conventions of traditional care and reshapes how medicine is practiced. The school’s mission is to recruit and develop a diverse group of students and leaders in biomedical science, public health, medical education, and clinical care. Emory School of Medicine works with PRC to achieve important health objectives in the communities we serve.
We collaborate with a number of Emory School of Medicine faculty including specialists in refugee health:
Saria Hassan is a CAB member and serves on the Clarkston Summit Planning Committee.
Amy Zeidan is also a specialist in refugee health and serves on the CAB as well as volunteers at Grace Village supporting our women’s health initiative.
We are also working with faculty members and trauma surgeons Deepi Koganti and Randi Smith on a culturally adapted implementation of the Stop the Bleed https://www.stopthebleed.org training in the refugee community.
We also continue to partner with the Emory Global Health Institute, a supporter and sponsor of the Clarkston Summit.
Ethne Clinic is a non-profit medical clinic in Clarkston, GA that serves insured and uninsured individuals. It provides high-quality healthcare that is both culturally sensitive and community-focused.
Inspiritus guides individuals and families on a path from surviving to thriving. Inspiritus’ Refugee & Immigrant Services team provides services to refugees, asylees, and immigrants at any point in their journey to help them become self-sufficient, socially integrated, and culturally acclimated to their communities across Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee.
New American Pathways is an Atlanta-based nonprofit with the mission of Helping Refugees and Georgia Thrive. Our vision is for new Americans in metro Atlanta to become successful, contributing, and welcomed members of Georgia's communities. We fulfill our goals by offering the most comprehensive, fully integrated continuum of services targeted to meet the specific needs of refugees and other immigrants in Georgia. Our services support new Americans on their individual pathways from arrival through citizenship with programs that focus on four key milestones along the pathway – Safety & Stability, Self-Sufficiency, Success, and Service.

Adult Literacy Research Center, College of Education and Human Development
The Adult Literacy Research Center links theory and practice through interdisciplinary research, professional development and community partnerships to understand the challenges and opportunities for adults with low literacy skills.
Center for Community Engagement
Located on Georgia State’s Clarkston campus, the Center for Community Engagement is a collaboration among Georgia State’s Perimeter College School of Public Health and College of Education and Human Development. It brings together a diverse group of individuals and organizations from various sectors to address issues important to the community. Furthermore, the Center coordinates research efforts on issues facing the refugee and immigrant populations.
Department of Counseling and Psychological Services
The GSU Department of Counseling and Psychological Services serves on the PRC Clarkston Mental Health Workgroup and collaborates with community organizations, local health providers, resettlement agencies, and social services by facilitating GSU student clinical placement to address mental health needs in the community. Through the development of a Mental Health Alliance, these partners aim to increase mental healthcare capacity in Clarkston by training community members and providers to become Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) counselors.
The Grace Village Clinic is a State of Georgia certified clinic operating under the Georgia Volunteer Health Care Program. It provides families and individuals in Clarkston who cannot afford healthcare with medical services and support. Grace Village partners with local resettlement, social, and educational organizations to ensure the community is receiving quality, holistic healthcare.
Indian Creek Elementary School is one of the largest and most diverse elementary schools in DeKalb County. It welcomes students from more than 40 countries who speak 45 different languages and dialects. Indian Creek Elementary School works to provide a safe space for its students by promoting growth, development, and inclusivity within the Clarkston community.
The International Rescue Committee is a non-governmental organization that focuses on global humanitarian aid, relief, and development. IRC in Atlanta works alongside partners in the Clarkston community to help refugee and migrant families and individuals with social support, integration, and resettlement.
Northside Hospital aims to provide quality care to the community beyond providing medical services. It focuses on improving access to specialized medical services, education, and outreach programs.
Positive Growth Inc. is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of families, children, youth, and adults during difficult transitional periods. It provides high-quality and culturally competent mental health services that promote self-determination, productivity, and self-sufficiency.
The Refugee Pediatric Clinic is an extension of the Refugee Health Program in DeKalb County and was established by the DeKalb County Board of Health in partnership with the Southeast Permanente Medical Group and Kaiser Permanente. The clinic provides primary care services to children up to the age of 18 in the Clarkston community and surrounding DeKalb County.
Scottsdale Early Learning is a child development center that serves a diverse population and provides community-based and center-based early care education that promotes growth and development. The center addresses socioeconomic disadvantages through high-quality education, family involvement, and community engagement.
The Somali American Community Center is a non-profit organization in Clarkston, GA that initially started to provide support to Somali refugees in the community. They provide education, support, advocacy, and assistance to families and individuals in the Clarkston community.
